Notice of TASCOE Special Meeting (Workshop)

I am calling a special meeting (workshop) that will be held at Fall Creek Falls State Park on Nov. 13 & 14. The purpose of this workshop will be to provide a general overview of TASCOE's operation, policies, procedures, officer/director roles, and committee roles. This will be a very informal round table meeting with a planned agenda and some committee break out sessions. The workshop will be divided into two half-day sessions that will be on Friday, Nov. 13 (from 1:00-5:00 p.m. CST) and Saturday, Nov. 14 (from 8 a.m.-until approx. noon CST). If you have any ideas or suggestions for items to be on the agenda, please call or email me before November 6.

All officers, directors, and committee chairs are urged to attend and participate to make this a productive effort. If you are a Director and cannot attend, we need you to contact your Alternate so they can plan to attend. If you are a Committee Chair and cannot attend, we need you to select one of your committee members to attend in your place. In order for this to be a success, we need full participation.

As per our travel policy, lodging accommodations will be covered for officers, directors, and committee chairs (or persons representing these positions). Charla is our Convention Chair and, although this is not a convention, I asked her to make room arrangements with Fall Creek Falls. We have a block of rooms already reserved for TASCOE. If you are attending as a officer, director, or committee chair (or representing any one of these), please contact Charla at 931-703-7731, or charla.daly@tn.usda.gov no later than October 30 to confirm your attendance and to obligate your lodging (if needed). Even if you do not need lodging, I would ask that you contact Charla to confirm that you will be participating.

Even though this is a Special-Called Meeting that is focusing on the development and education of officers, directors, and committee chairs, this is an open meeting and all members are invited to attend. However, members will be responsible for arranging their own accommodations and will not need to call Charla. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me at 615-464-7176. I look forward to seeing each one of you at this workshop as we work to continue to build on the successes that TASCOE has accomplished in the first 50 years.

Respectfully,
Donny Green, President
Tennessee Association of FSA County Office Employees

Thanks for Making Tennessee Shine !!!
2009 50th Anniversary NASCOE Convention

There are no words that could adequately express my appreciation to each and every one of you (and you know who you are) who helped to make this most important convention possible. It was in 1959 that the dedicated employees of TN hosted the NASCOE convention in Memphis, TN. Although many of the members have changed, the dedication of time, money, talents, and energy by TN's membership has not changed.

Thank you all for your support whether it was through donations, time, talents, energy and/or attendance. For those of you who could not attend, I want you to know that your fellow employees who were there worked very, very hard to make sure that this convention went smoothly and they made TN very, very proud. I asked these people to give countless hours of hard work and they were all there on their own time and money. Please take the time to thank them for the hard work they did for you and TASCOE.

I can not tell you how many compliments TN has received from people all over the country who attended the convention. Many said that it was the best convention they had ever attended and many of those who made that comment have attended countless conventions. The comments ranged from, we love the location, we like the family atmosphere, to we are having a blast!

I can't thank you all enough for supporting me over the last 3 years. It was stressful at times, but with the support group I had during the convention week I made it through and together we pulled off one of the most important and best conventions in NASCOE history. I want to say a very, very special thank you to Shirley Redfearn. Without Shirley this convention would not have been possible, so please take the time to thank her yourself. Shirley has tirelessly managed TASCOE's money, not only for the convention, but for many years.

Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your hard work, dedication and especially the hugs when I needed them!

Sincerely,

Joy English
