Image 1The government shutdown is headed into its second week with no clear end in sight, and on Sunday key Republicans linked the budget battle to the looming fight over a potential default on the nation’s debt.

House Speaker John Boehner said on Sunday he wouldn’t allow Congress to raise the debt ceiling without curbing federal spending. While the country’s Treasury Secretary called it “reckless” for the government to veer so closely to a potential default.
